Dahulu di kampung-kampung pelita ibarat ikon penting ketika sambutan hari raya. Pelita akan dipasang di sekeliling rumah sebagai tanda sambutan hari raya. Malah di sesetengah negeri, pertandingan ‘panjut’ diadakan di kampung-kampung untuk memeriahkan lagi suasana. Hari ini, suasana hari raya di bandar besar seperti Kuala Lumpur nyata berlainan.

 

  1. Hiasan lampu berbentuk bulan dan bintang serta ketupat menjadi hiasan yang digantung di tiang elektrik di sepanjang jalan utama sebagai tanda sambutan hari raya. Walau berbeza caranya, namun diharapkan Aidil Fitri tetap di sambut dengan rohnya yang asal.

  2. Kuala Kangsar was very famous for its ‘pertandingan panjut’, where people from other towns would cruise the kampung roads to check out the panjut structures on competition night. Those were the days, and we don’t have them anymore. I think someone ordered a directive – no more panjut, as it is considered unislamic. Funny isn’t it, as how different is it from decorating the streets with those modern lights? Probably they have this fixation as panjut probably comes from the hindu tradition.

    But people still have the traditional pelita at home, fortunately (like my next door neighbour, heh). Hurray to that ;-)
